SKULDUGGERY OF THE WEEK: OFF-TARGET THIEF

Someone with bad intentions and worse aim attempted to break a glass back door with a fireplace cannon ball in the 3400 block of Cornell Avenue before 4:30 p.m. on May 12, but missed and hit the drywall instead. The would-be-burglar also unsuccessfully attempted to pry open the door.
UNIVERSITY PARK
12 Monday
A criminal cruiser stole a 2023 BMW X3 on Granada Avenue at about 6:15 a.m.
Burglary of a 2018 Ford F-150 on Caruth Boulevard was reported at 1:21 p.m.
13 Tuesday
Officers made a traffic stop and arrested the vehicle’s 44-year-old driver on three warrants at about 3:36 a.m. on Armstrong Parkway.
Reported at 8:14 a.m.: A pedaling pilferer stole a bike on McFarlin Boulevard on May 11.
A license plate looter stole a plate from a 2020 BMW X3 at about 10:09 a.m. on Emerson Avenue.
A deft thief stole tools worth between $750 and $2,500 at about 10:14 a.m. on Caruth Boulevard.
Reported at 3:23 p.m.: A 15-year-old student was in possession of a THC vape at McCulloch Intermediate School/Highland Park Middle School.
Reported at 4:24 p.m.: A thief took off with between $2,500 and $30,000 of property from the 4300 block of Southwestern Boulevard on March 29.
Reported at 4:49 p.m.: Some young troublemakers vandalized a 2023 Rivian R1T at about 2 p.m. on April 13 on Potomac Avenue.
14 Wednesday
A backyard bandit stole a bicycle from an open garage in the 4000 block of Centenary Drive before 6:17 a.m.
A license plate plunderer stole a plate from a 2023 BMW X5 before 7:02 a.m. on Wentwood Drive.
A sneaky thief stole personal items from a locker in a community center on Preston Road at about 6:36 p.m.
15 Thursday
Officers responded to a family disturbance on Westminster Avenue at about 12:04 a.m. and arrested a 69-year-old woman for assault.
A 22-year-old woman turned herself in on an active warrant at about 8:34 a.m. on University Boulevard.
A destructive deviant stole between $2,500 and $30,000 of construction tools at about 9:23 a.m. on Marquette Street.

Reported at 2:22 p.m.: The school resource officer at Highland Park High School received a complaint of a 16-year-old student being harassed through repeated electronic communication by a 17-year-old from another school.
Ongoing harassment of a man was reported at 9:50 p.m. on Turtle Creek Boulevard.
17 Saturday
Officers made a traffic stop at about 1:37 a.m. on Centenary Drive and arrested a 40-year-old man for possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and on a warrant.

12 Monday
A 28-year-old offender was arrested for failing to identify themselves and on a warrant at about 3:40 a.m. in the 5400 block of Preston Road.
A 26-year-old man was arrested on multiple warrants at about 4:34 p.m. in the 4200 block of Armstrong Parkway.
13 Tuesday
Reported at 8:38 a.m.: A porch pirate stole a BOB brand jogging stroller from outside a home in the 4500 block of Fairway Avenue early the morning of May 2.
A 31-year-old man was arrested for criminal trespassing at about 9:32 a.m. in the 3500 block of Armstrong Parkway.

A burglar stole a Craftsman tool bag and tools worth about $1,000 from an unlocked Ford van in the 4200 block of Fairfax Avenue at about 1 p.m.

A bag bandit stole a fake Louis Vuitton purse and a wallet from a locked 2020 Chevy Traverse in the Whole Foods parking lot in the 4100 block of Lomo Alto Drive before 3 p.m.
17 Saturday
A 29-year-old woman was arrested for driving while intoxicated at about 12:40 p.m. in the 5500 block of Fairfield Avenue.
