Scots Top ESD to Clinch Top Playoff Seed
Highland Park closed out the lacrosse regular season with a statement win, rolling past defending state champion Episcopal School of Dallas 11-4 on Friday at Highlander Stadium.
The Scots (17-3) won their fourth straight game and clinched a top seed in the upcoming Texas High School Lacrosse League playoffs. They will host a quarterfinal showdown against Cypress Woods on May 3.
HP avenged its two defeats against ESD last season, including in the state semifinals. The Scots won the crown in 2023.
Meanwhile, the Eagles (17-2) had their nine-game winning streak snapped and suffered their first loss this season against an in-state opponent. As the No. 2 seed, ESD also will host a first-round postseason contest against Southlake Carroll.
Since a loss to Jesuit on April 11, HP has outscored its last four opponents by a combined margin of 52-14.
If the Scots advance, they will face either Jesuit Dallas or Austin Westlake in the semifinals. The state tournament is slated for May 10-11 in Austin.
