Madden, Greene Lead HP Gymnasts to State
Highland Park will be well represented at the Texas High School Gymnastics Coaches Association state meet beginning Friday in Odessa.
The Scots will send full teams for both boys and girls after finishing third in each division at the Region I meet earlier this month at the Hegi Family Gymnastics Center.
In girls events, HP sophomore Eva Madden was the regional champion on balance beam and placed fourth in the all-around standings. Also for the Lady Scots, Lauren Sweary was third on vault and Ella Ham was top-10 in multiple events.
Ryder Greene was the all-around regional runner-up for the HP boys, with teammate Willads Windelov in sixth. Other top-10 event finishers included Joaquin Doman and Henrik Shalley.
The two-day state competition will include compulsory routines on Friday and optional routines on Saturday, with combined scores determining the team, event, and all-around champions.
