HP Bass Team Reels in Fourth Win in Perfect Season
Seniors Dylan Sorrells and Cullum Brown led the Highland Park Bass Team to a dominant victory and its fourth consecutive school title of the season at Eagle Mountain Lake on March 8.
The five heaviest legal fish from HP’s top three teams weighed a combined 49.05 pounds, almost double the weight of the second-place team’s fish. Sorrells and Brown finished first out of 126 teams at the tournament. Their bag alone weighed a whopping 35.80 pounds.
The HP Bass Team has had a perfect record this season. In addition to finishing first out of 28 schools at Eagle Mountain Lake, HP had six teams in the tournament’s top 12 and five teams in the top 10. With one event left in the regular season, six HP teams have tentatively qualified for regionals, and two more are just outside the cut.
HP also has four teams in the top 10 in the race for Angler of the Year, including three of the top four teams.
The top five HP teams at Eagle Mountain Lake, determined by the weight of their five heaviest legal fish, were:
- Dylan Sorrells and Cullum Brown — 35.80 pounds
- Luke Lowry — 6.79 pounds
- Myles Vinyard — 6.46 pounds
- Benton Weathersby and Hawkins Schoenvogel — 6.28 pounds
- James Park and Alexander Diltz — 5.65 pounds
