HP Powerlifters Flex Muscles at Opener

Highland Park showed its strength with multiple gold medals at the first meet of the boys powerlifting season on Friday at Richardson Pearce.

The standout was Henry Hobbs, who won the 220-pound weight class in addition to earning top-three lifts in HP history in the squat and dead lift (550 pounds each).

Isaiah Lee took gold at 148 pounds, and the Scots had several runner-up finishes: Rye Lanahan (148), Langedon McMurray (198), Tripp Townsend (242), and Stuart Allday (super heavyweight). HP has 16 personal bests at the meet.

In girls action, HP completed on Saturday in Forney, with Finlea Beitsch claiming second place and Ellie Levy coming in third.

The Scots will return to action on Feb. 13 at Richardson Berkner before hosting the annual Scot Classic meet on Feb. 19.
