Late Rally Lifts HP Girls Over Wakeland
Thanks to a second-half comeback, Highland Park surged past Frisco Wakeland on Friday and remained in contention for a District 12-5A girls basketball title.
The Lady Scots (19-11, 9-2) extended their winning streak to 10 games and moved to within one game of the first-place Wolverines in the standings with three games remaining.
HP trailed 21-13 at halftime but opened the third quarter with a 16-4 run, then held off Wakeland late. Kate Danner scored a team-high 14 points and Ellington Heis added 11.
The Lady Scots will travel to face The Colony on Tuesday before hosting Carrollton Newman Smith in their final home game on Jan. 31.
