Myung, Rangers Hold Off Scots in OT
Danny Myung’s overtime goal lifted Jesuit Dallas past Highland Park 2-1 in a thriller as part of the AT&T Metroplex High School Hockey League on Wednesday in Richardson.
The Rangers (12-3) held a 50-16 edge in shots on goal, including 10-1 in overtime. But they trailed 1-0 until Rex Garrick’s tying tally with 2:33 remaining in regulation.
The result spoiled a remarkable 48-save performance by HP goaltender Cash Murphy. Trey Ostella scored late in the second period for the shorthanded Scots (9-5-1).
It was the third and final clash this season between the two rivals, who split their earlier meetings. Jesuit opened the campaign with an 8-1 win and HP claimed a 4-1 decision in December.
Despite dropping four of its past five games, HP remains in third place in the league’s Gold Division standings heading into the regular-season finale on Jan. 29 against Flower Mound Marcus.
Jesuit, which is in second place in the division, moved to 3-0 in overtime games this year. The Rangers will wrap up the regular season on Jan. 29 against Allen.
