While tailgating before the home football game against UC Berkeley on the SMU campus, Magdeline witnessed a life-threatening medical emergency. Her quick thinking, composure, and life-saving efforts, including administering first aid until paramedics arrived, prevented a tragic outcome.

This award honors Magdeline’s extraordinary courage and selflessness, which exemplify the highest standards of community service. She is a student in SMU’s Simmons School of Education and Human Development pursuing a doctorate in the Human-Centered Interdisciplinary Studies program.
