After completing its gauntlet of a nondistrict volleyball schedule, Highland Park might be relieved to begin District 7-6A play.
The Lady Scots, who have played some of the best public-school programs in Texas without a loss over the past month, will open their league slate on Friday against Richardson Pearce.
HP swept Rockwall-Heath in its final nondistrict clash on Tuesday, 25-17, 25-10, 25-17. That came on the heels of sweeps over Plano East and Aledo last week, and a third-place showing in the prestigious Volleypalooza tournament before that.
The Lady Scots (25-2) will be the overwhelming favorite to win the district. After playing at home on Friday, they will travel to face Irving Nimitz on Sept. 13.
