SKULDUGGERY OF THE WEEK: GARAGE GIVEAWAY

How easy was it for a pilferer to pinch two bicycles from a garage in the 3700 block of Amherst Avenue around 1:41 p.m. Jan. 12? The garage was unlocked.

HIGHLAND PARK

10 Monday

Reported at 8:11 a.m.: A pilferer picked a pricy pair of catalytic converters from a Toyota Tundra parked in the north parking lot of Highland Park Village.

Reported at 8:54 a.m.: a good neighbor found $80 outside her home in the 3300 block of Cornell Avenue and turned it in to authorities.

A reckless driver hit an Isuzu utility van in the 3100 block of Drexel Drive around 10:40 a.m. and continued driving west on Drexel without stopping to provide information.

Reported at 12:16 p.m.: A porch pirate pilfered three packages from a home in the 3500 block of Mockingbird Lane.

A crook took a license plate from a Ford F150 parked at Fairfield Avenue and Miramar Avenue` between 4:53 and 6:17 p.m.

`12 Wednesday

Arrested at 4:47 a.m.: a 31-year-old man accused of possession of drug paraphernalia, driving without insurance, and no license in the 4200 block of Lakeside Drive.

A pair of crooks in a Dodge Dakota took a leaf blower out of a work van parked in the 3300 block of Beverly Drive and drove away after a scuffle with the owner of the work van around 9:45 a.m.

13 Thursday

Arrested at 12:06 a.m.: a 26-year-old woman accused of driving while intoxicated in the 5000 block of Preston Road.

14 Friday

Arrested at 1:01 a.m.: a 45-year-old man accused of possession of a controlled substance in the 4300 block of St. Johns Drive.

Arrested at 5:58 p.m.: a 23-year-old woman accused of an accident involving damage to a vehicle in Highland Park Village.

Reported at 8:13 a.m.: a thief took a Trek Marlin 5 bicycle from a bike rack at Bradfield Elementary in the 4300 block of Southern Avenue.

15 Saturday

Reported at 9:13 a.m.: a careless driver hit a Jaguar parked in the 4600 block of S. Versailles Avenue and left without providing information.

UNIVERSITY PARK

10 Monday

Reported at 10:48 a.m.: A fraudster used the information of a woman from the 6300 block of Westchester Drive to open a credit card in her name without her consent.

A jerk assaulted a roommate in the 3200 block of Rosedale Avenue around 9:43 p.m.

11 Tuesday

A burglar broke into a Kia in the 3400 block of Milton Avenue and grabbed a backpack with a wallet inside around 4:30 p.m.
