New Piercing Studio, Jewelry Store Opens in HP

A new piercing studio and jewelry shop recently opened in Highland Park.

Wildlike, a sister company to jewelry brand Ylang 23, opened in July at 4218 Oak Lawn Avenue in the former home of Blushington in the Shops of Highland Park. Alysa Teichman, whose parents founded Ylang 23 in 1985, founded the new high-end piercing studio and jewelry store.

“We call it piercing reimagined because it’s different from pretty much any other piercing concept out there. It’s a high-end piercing experience that really marries what people love about designer jewelry with tattoo culture and what you would find at a more traditional piercing store,” Teichman said.

She said Wildlike’s piercers use single-use hollow needles — as is typical for professional piercers — as opposed to piercing guns to prevent trauma to the earlobe.

Wildlike also boasts a wide selection of jewelry. The store has their own in-house brand of jewelry, and offers pieces from Ylang 23, as well as piercing lines from Pamela Love, Maria Tash, BVLA, and more.

Piercing appointments start at $40 for one ear or nose piercing and $20 for each additional. They also offer jewelry changeouts, jewelry deep cleanings, and consultations with a piercer. The minimum age for piercing appointments is 10.

Teichman hopes customers enjoy the luxe decor of the store as well.

“It’s such a happy space. It was done in…coral and…beautiful terrazzo flooring, and the brand identity is so strong and happy that people just feel good when they walk in,” she said.
