ESD had its eight-game winning streak snapped with a hard-fought 11-9 defeat at Highland Park on Friday, in a matchup of state semifinalists from last season.
After a seesaw first half, the Eagles (8-2) surged to a 7-3 advantage in the third quarter. Later, the Scots (7-2) rallied from a 9-7 deficit with four goals in the final five minutes.
The Eagles had won their previous eight games in mostly dominating fashion, including an 8-4 triumph over rival St. Mark’s on March 22. In all, ESD outscored those opponents by a combined margin of 94-24.
Next up, the Eagles will travel to face Greenhill on Tuesday before hosting Coppell on April 5. Perhaps more importantly, a home game against Jesuit also looms on April 13.
