Hockaday senior Adoette Vaughan finished 20th in a field of 40 elite runners at the Foot Locker Cross Country National Championships on Saturday at Balboa Park in San Diego.
Vaughan finished the 5-kilometer course in a time of 18 minutes, 14 seconds, more than a minute behind girls champion Sydney Masciarelli of Northbridge, Massachusetts.
Vaughan was one of six Texas girls competing at the invitation-only event. She also participated in the race last year, and placed 11th. In November, she won her fourth consecutive individual title at the SPC fall championship meet in Dallas.
