The Family Place’s 20th Texas Trailblazers Award Luncheon did more than just honor some noteworthy people today.

The organization has announced plans for a $13 million capital campaign to rebuild a 50,000 square-foot building to become the Central Dallas Counseling Center. This was soon followed by the announcement that the Moody Foundation has already kicked-off the campaign through a $5 million gift.

To be named the Ann Moody Place, the Central Dallas Counseling Center will expand victim counseling services and place administrative offices in a more accessible location. The building will include an emergency shelter with 40 beds, and a centralized hotline/call center for placing clients in shelters and scheduling counseling appointments. The Family Place plans to start renovations by March 2016.

The Family Place works in the Dallas area to empower victims of family violence with housing, counseling and programs to create independence. To learn more about how you can be involved with this organization, or how you can contribute to the new center, click here.
