Former Reporter Back For Another BvB Year

She's baaack.

Our former reporter (and HPHS grad) Margaux Anbouba may be working at The Joule these days, but we’ve roped her back in to tell us about her season with BvB Dallas. Take it away, Margaux:

Hello, dear Park Cities People readers! It’s been so long since we last chatted. But if I’m back on the blog, that only means one thing: it’s BvB season, and I’m here to tell you all about it.

It’s true—despite the fact that I almost didn’t graduate from both high school and college because of failure to complete physical education credits, I’m playing powder-puff football for the third year in a row. And while some people may call this a miracle (including my coaches, my father, and anybody else who has ever seen me run), I’d call it dedication to the cause. This year we’re aiming to raise $600,000 for BvB’s 2015 beneficiaries, the Baylor AT&T Memory Center and the Center for Vital Longevity at The University of Texas at Dallas.

But before we talk about how the third time’s the charm when it comes to the Bru Crew winning the big game, let’s take a trip down memory lane, shall we?

I’ve come so far since I joined the Bru Crew in 2013. Let me tell you a funny story: my first year covering BvB, I reported that I was a linebacker. Little did I know (seriously, I knew so little), I was playing cornerback the entire season. Fact checking exists for a reason, y’all. There was also that time I had to ask what a blitz was — whatever. I’m still here, lacing up my cleats every Sunday to run drills, scrimmage, and raise money for a cause near and dear to my heart. But please don’t think that I’ve changed that much… after all, I still went shopping to make sure all my athletic gear for practice was cute, and even accessorized my cleats with some funky Frida Khalo socks.

I know you want to get in on the fun, because who wouldn’t enjoy watching blonde and brunette ladies playing a friendly game of American football? This year, we’ll be playing on Aug. 8 at the Cotton Bowl. A $25 donation to BvB Dallas will get you a ticket to the game and can be purchased here. But a little word of friendly advice: wear blue. We wouldn’t want you cheering for the wrong team, now would we?
