SKULDUGGERY OF THE WEEK: Close to The Vest
Between 4:10 and 5:25 p.m. on Oct. 8, a shoplifter stole a mink, leather, and cashmere vest, valued at $13,975, from Loro Piana at Highland Park Village. Surveillance cameras captured footage of a woman browsing through clothing, and trying on boots and capes. When an employee was distracted, she hid the vest underneath her skirt, and later paid cash for a $50 bar of soap before leaving the store.
Between 5 p.m. on Oct. 5 and 4:30 a.m. on Oct. 6, a burglar broke into a gray 2012 GMC Yukon in the 4600 block of Livingston Avenue and stole a third-row seat, valued at $3,000. The thief also caused $300 in damage to the Yukon.
At 9:30 a.m., a resident of the 3200 block of Dartmouth Avenuereported the theft of $200 worth of tools, a $30 iPad charger, and a $30 iPhone charger from an unlocked tan Ford F-350 pickup during the overnight hours of Oct. 2.
Between 4 p.m. on Oct. 9 and 8:15 a.m. on Oct. 10, a burglar broke into a silver 2010 GMC Yukon XL in the 4500 block of Southern Avenue and stole a third-row seat.
Between Oct. 3 and Oct. 11, a thief stole a girls Huffy Cruiser bicycle with a bell on the handlebars from the side of a house in the 4900 block of Abbott Avenue. Two other bikes in the same spot were left alone.
Between 10:30 p.m. on Oct. 10 and 7 a.m. on Oct. 11, a vandal cut a 10-inch gash into the convertible top of a silver 1989 Mercedes RD56S in the 4400 block of Westway Avenue, causing $300 in damage.
Between 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 10 and 7 p.m. on Oct. 11, a burglar broke into a black 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe in the 4600 block of Edmondson Avenue and stole a third-row seat.
At 10:43 p.m., police shut down a party at an apartment complex in the 4200 block of Lomo Alto Drive where several teenagers were being loud and climbing over the back fence. One of them told officers that the party included about 20 underage drinkers, most of which fled the scene. Police issued citations to five of them, who were later released to their parents.
Between 5:30 p.m. on Oct. 6 and 7:56 a.m. on Oct. 7, a thief stole a gray 2009 Mercedes C1550, valued at $20,000, from the 2800 block of Daniel Avenue. Stolen items inside the car included $2,200 worth of golf clubs, a $200 iPad, a $200 pair of Persol sunglasses, and a $100 Prada bag.
At noon, a thief stole a $600 iPhone 5S from Highland Park Middle School.
Between 6 p.m. on Oct. 7 and 8:30 a.m. on Oct. 8, a thief stole a wallet containing $90 in cash from a black 2012 GMC Acadia in the4000 block of Amherst Street.
Between Oct. 4 and Oct. 9, a thief stole a $5,000 Remington rifle and an $800 Browning shotgun from an unlocked copper 2000 Toyota station wagon in the 4400 block of Larchmont Avenue.
At 1:40 a.m., Danielle Marie Mullings, 22, of Plano was arrested in the 3400 block of Binkley Avenue on a public intoxication charge.
At 12:40 a.m., George Coates Roberts, 18, of San Antonio was arrested at Hyer Elementary School on charges of consumption of alcohol by a minor and presenting a fake ID.
At 4:54 a.m., Shelby Goff, 27, of Highland Park was arrested in the3800 block of University Boulevard on a public intoxication charge.
At 12:31 a.m., Cameron Zachary Yates, 19, of Frisco was arrested in the 6400 block of North Central Expressway on a charge of consumption of alcohol by a minor.
At 4:27 p.m., a resident of the 4300 block of Amherst Streetreported the burglary of a gray 2007 GMC Yukon that included the theft of $1,500 worth of golf clubs and a third-row seat valued at $1,000.
