An upcoming luncheon will shine a spotlight on an important topic — the plight of teenage girls who are addicted to drugs or alcohol, or suffering from trauma related to physical or sexual abuse, incarceration, homelessness, or abandonment.
Nexus Recovery Center will hold its second annual Women’s Forum on Teen Female Addiction at noon Friday at the Communities Foundation of Texas Mabel Peters Caruth Center, near the intersection of North Central Expressway and Caruth Haven Lane.
This year’s topic is “The Addicted Teen: Brain Disease and Implications for Families,” and the featured speaker will be Dr. David Atkinson, an adolescent addiction specialist who completed his fellowship at the renowned Mayo Clinic.
The event chairman is Becky Frey, with sponsors including AT&T, Briggs Freeman Sotheby’s, and CoHost Catering. The luncheon is free and open to the public. For registration information, email Abi Erickson at firstname.lastname@example.org.
