Sisters Call For ‘More Cookies, Less Cancer’

Bennett Williams is a 2-year-old boy from the Park Cities who was diagnosed with leukemia about 18 months ago. That means he’s about halfway through his chemotherapy treatments at Children’s Medical Center. I did three months’ worth of that torture when I was 21. I can’t imagine doing three years’ worth at Bennett’s age. But his mom, Kirsa, reports that her son is doing about as well as can be expected. “You would never know he has cancer just by looking at him,” she told me.

Bennett’s sisters Ava and Ellie — who are third- and first-graders at Bradfield Elementary, respectively — wanted to do something fun to raise money in their brother’s honor for the oncology floor at Children’s. So they came up with “More Cookies, Less Cancer.” They’ll be selling treats in front of Learning Express in Snider Plaza from about 9 a.m. to noon Saturday — or until they run out of cookies. All of the money they raise will go directly to the cancer floor.
