Lamplighter students, parents, and teachers gathered last week to celebrate reaching a fundraising goal of $12.5 million to pay for land purchased in 2010 from Hockaday. Folk musician Jimmy LaFave stopped by the school to perform at the event. Previously, Lamplighter was leasing the land from Hockaday, which backs up to Hockaday on Inwood Road and Forest Lane.
“By all measure, this represents a “monumental accomplishment during difficult economic times and underscores the School community’s deep and abiding commitment to Lamplighter,” said Joan Hill, Lamplighter head of school in a press release. “Members of the Lamplighter community continue to demonstrate incredible generosity.”
