A Day in the Life of a Refugee

Jesuit students will soon know what it’s like to be a refugee after experiencing a simulation the school is having tomorrow.

The school’s Terry Center will be transformed to allow students to experience two separate refugee camp situations. One modeled after the Kakuma Refugee Camp in Kenya, and the other after Asian refugee camps.

“Students will ‘register’ as refugees, receive ID cards, and feel the dehumanization of the camps,” the school details in a press release. They will each have mock medical examinations and will learn about the diseases refugees can contract while at the camps, then will learn about how children are educated and will eat a meal similar to a meal refugees eat daily.

If you want to learn more about the simulation or participate, the school is hosting a forum for everyone in the community at 7 p.m.
