Or it was, rather, in this photo from 1950 at the inaugural day of classes at Greenhill. There’s just something romantic about old photos, and this one piqued my interest in light of our recent Schools & Education special section where we chronicled the beginning of many area private schools. This photo wasn’t in our section, but it was just posted to Greenhill’s Facebook page.
1. The lack of toothy grins, which I consider the hallmark of American photos. Was this not the norm in the ’50s?
2. The preponderance of plaid.
