Sarah Palin = Ultimate Volamom

While I’m no Sarah Palin expert, it’s not hard to imagine her as a Park Cities volamom. She projects that kind of image. She doesn’t shy away from her PTA president to vice presidential candidate success story. This led me and others in our newsroom to thinking: Is she the ultimate volamom?

Discuss.

Palin Does Dallas

Word on the Interwebs is that Alaskan Governor/Hockey Mom/Sportscaster/Republican Vice Presidential Candidate Sarah Palin will be hosting a lunch fundraiser at the Fairmont Hotel this Friday. Tickets are going for a cool thou. If you don’t have the cash, then there is a cheaper option here.

I’m sure there will be plenty of Parkies in attendance. So, if you’re going to the Palin Party as a paid guest…or a protester, hit us up in the comments section. In light of recent Wall Street events there is now a nominal fee of $10 per comment or 25 cents a character, whichever generates more revenue.

Bonus Question: What’s the most expensive meal in the Park Cities you’ve ever paid for?

Pay Up or No One Comes to Your Kid’s Birthday Party?

This is shocking even for the Park Cities but I have a source who backs up the scandal.

My child attends [school name] and is in Kindergarten there. We found out that one of the other classes was requiring all parents to pitch in an additional $100 dollars per child for teacher gifts. There was one mother in that class who refused to pay the extra $100 and the other mothers (are you sitting) BOYCOTTED this mother’s child’s birthday party. We are talking about a 5 year old child who is wondering why no one came to his party…..isn’t that pathetic?????

Hyer Voices

Wow, it was a hectic scene tonight at Hyer for “Meet the Teacher Night.”  So many cuties saying hello, comparing their new clothes, squealing at each other in delight and discussing their summer vacations.  They were precious.

And that was just the moms.  The kids seemed pretty excited, too.

Local Author Turns Pole Dancer?

Charles has offered to do the pole dance, see comments. I know it’s for chicks but maybe they’ll let us bring a guy just once. The publicity from the photos of Geilich on the pole would be…wow! Maybe we could get Jason to take a spin too.

Showin’ it All at the Pool, Not Always Cool

I’m not saying that there’s anything wrong with being proud of your body or anything but I do think that maybe there should be some guidelines in place for the following situations:

  • Women over a certain age in super skimpy bikinis. There is a HUGE diff between a regular two piece and a strappy scrap of fabric that shows the c-section scar.
  • Tatoos that used to be tiny but now cover a bit more surface if you know what I mean. You never want your once charming little ”Phi Delt” to show if expanded to Phhhhhiiiiiiii Delllllt.
  • Hair doesn’t belong in some places. The good news is that there are inexpensive procedures for that.

Learn This New Word: Ambigumail

As you all know, from time to time it becomes necessary to create a term that captures a situation like no other previously established word. Recently I received an e-mail that made this addition to the Overheardian vocabulary a must.

Ambigumail: An ambiguous e-mail worded so that more than one meaning, often conflicting interpretations, can be received making it necessary to re-read and over analyze the vague and cryptic content.

Tennis Skirt is Official Uniform for Sex and the City Fans

This Overheardian e-mail came in late morning and made me laugh out loud:

I’m sitting in the theatre right now waiting to watch Sex and the City, there are at least 100 “tennis players“, visors and all, here sitting in the theatre.  I am feeling overwhelmingly compelled to ask one of them where they play and if today was some sort of “field trip” for the tennis club.

It Was a Field Day at Hyer

Here are a few photos from the Hyer Field Day yesterday.  They are kindergarten-through-second-grade-centric, because that’s where the photographer was located.

Father’s Day?

Overheard at Hyer Field Day, from a mom: “Look at all the fathers who are here.  Don’t they have jobs?”

Pictures of Field Day will be posted later.
