Mrs. Waters will be taking the reins of the Highland Park High School Choir. From the district:

Natalie Waters has been promoted to Highland Park High School’s choir director effective Aug. 18. She has served as assistant choir director at HPHS since 2005 and as Highland Park Middle School’s choir director since 2007. Waters previously served as assistant choir director at Abilene High School.

“I am delighted that Natalie Waters has been chosen to serve as choir director for HPHS,” said HPHS Principal Patrick Cates. “She is a gifted teacher and director who enjoys a wonderful working relationship with her students. We are fortunate that she will bring her experience, talent, and energy to continue the traditions of our award-winning choir program.”
Waters earned a bachelor’s degree in music from Texas Tech University and will complete her master’s degree from Southern Methodist University in August of 2009.
“I am so excited to begin this next year as the choir director at Highland Park High School,” Waters said. “This year’s seniors are the freshmen that I started with here in HPISD. It is amazing to have the chance to spend my first year as director with students I already have a relationship with and to guide them to the next level of memorable music

making.”

Waters and her husband of three years, Dr. Jarod Waters, reside in Dallas.

Big thanks on The Girls Room plug!

Tierney, sounds like you’ve already been there, done that– but I’m sending you both a gift certificate for a complimentary spin.

Thanks again!
I can’t take the free pole dancing, Jason says it’s because of ethical considerations and stuff. So, ethically, I can’t pole dance.

Sorry, I just got into the office, so I’m a little late in sharing this news with Overheardians:

At approximately midnight, while on neighborhood patrol, Officer Chantell West observed flames coming from the rear pool house at the corner of Beverly and Westside Drives. Fire equipment was dispatched, and arrived on scene at 1209 and began extinguishment of the structure which houses a cabana, laundry room and art room. Several solvents and flammables exploded in the fire, causing it to spread to the entire contents which included furnishings and a large number of books and other combustables.

In all, two pieces of apparatus were used, and with the assistance of the University Park Fire Department, a total of 18 firefighters fought the blaze. A total value of the structure and contents is not yet available but it is a total loss. The fire was stopped before it spred to the main residence. The residents were not at home during the fire, and there were no injuries.
