Willie Nelson, Hot Air Balloons, and an Exchanging of Vows

While many Dallasites were doing their usual weekend routines, a lucky few spent Thursday-Sunday at the Rosewood Crescent Court celebrating the marriage of a Highland Park High School graduate to a British celebrity.

Just how extravagant was this wedding? From what I’ve heard, there was a private Willie Nelson performance, exotic animals, hot air balloon rides, and lavish decorations. The couple even had a closed processional from the Crescent to the Arboretum on Saturday.

The cost is estimated is said to be between $4-$9 million. Not a bad way to start their “happily ever after.” Details to come…

The couple met in Re-hab! That’s a lot of $$ to have someone else take care of your problem child. Only in Dallas and I seriously doubt the cost. What does “closed processional” mean?

No. It’s a very bad way to start “happily ever after,” because clearly it was about the spectacle. Which means it didn’t emphasize the important stuff about a wedding, like the promises the partners make to each other. I wish the couple all the best, but from this report, the long-term prospects aren’t very promising.

Why the veil of secrecy…who the heck is it?

Um, as an attendee, I saw neither hot air ballons nor exotic animals (unless you count the female Brits that came over. The Willie part is true.

The groom (or his double) did fly in on a helicopter.

Attendee - You must understand that on the blog, embellishment is encouraged. Accuracy or truth is not so important, even for the reporters.

For Pete’s sake…why will no one name the names?

The bride is from the Barclays (banking) family. Yes, they both met in rehab. She has serious dinero

Ah, I see. Well…how about each guest had a paid suite at the Crescent for each and every night (true). And we also got a massage instead of a welcome basket.

Or, the “closed” procession was a police escort for the over 100 limos and other autos from the Crescent all the way to the Arboretum (true). They stopped every single light all the way there. Poor souls who had to wait…they probably thought the Queen of England was in town.

I did hear that the groom bought the bride a pair of diamond encrusted pistols as a wedding gift (unconfirmed).

This is a couple truly in love and the 4 day event was lavish, posh and a blend of Texas and European chic. Yes, diamond encrusted pistols as a gift from the groom to the bride. Most certainly one of the most elegant weddings ever held in the U.S., not just Dallas. The sophisticated planning and the pure beauty of the weekend will likely be in Town and Country, etc. one of these days.
