Kershaw Might Get a Start in NLCS

Looks like former Scot pitcher Clayton Kershaw just might get his first career postseason start in the National League Championship Series.

Kershaw went 5-5 for the Dodgers this season and showed flashes of his promise as a viable left-handed pitcher in the bigs.

HP Girls Golf Team Third at Arlington Tourney

The Highland Park girls “White” golf team finished in third place at the Arlington High School Invitational on Monday.

The Lady Scots shot a 392. Waxahachie was first with a 359, followed by Euless Trinity with a 386. Olivia Weinkauf led the way for HP with a 97. Leslie Dickinson and Ashley Bybee both shot 98. Laura Bedford shot a 104. Also, Mollie Williams shot a 103 as a medalist.

The “White” team opened its season by finishing second at the Hebron JV Tournament on Sept. 24. The Lady Scots carded a 399. Mansfield won the tourney with a 375.

HP’s Mary Shuford and Weinkauf tied for fifth place by shooting 93. Also for the Lady Scots, Catherine Moore shot a 106, Bedford shot a 107, and Dickinson shot a 108.

Hey, if that headline works Nancy Nichols, then I hope it works for me.  I need to have some towels monogrammed for a wedding gift.  Does anyone have any recommendations? 

Grand Opening for Jorge’s Tex-Mex

Last night I stopped by the grand opening celebration of Jorge’s Tex-Mex Cafe to check out this newest addition to One Arts Plaza. The party began at 7 p.m. and when I got there at 7:08, the patio was already filled with friends of co-owners and father-daughter team Jorge Veloz and Michelle Mireles.

After being greeted by a mariachi band and frozen margaritas, I took a peek inside the upscale restaurant and, I have to say, really liked the (more…)
