I was discussing the post about the return of the Thus Moms with several area ladies at a coffee today and we have decided to test this out. We’re going to begin using another obnoxious word (we’re trying to decide between “thou” and “ye” but are open to suggestions) in the course of our conversations around the Park Cities. Each of the 7 ladies will use the word twice a day, everyday for a week and then watch to see if starts popping up in other places around town.
The experiment begins as soon as we nail down the official word. Any thoughts? “Hence” was also suggested.
So there’s a chick walking around in Highland Park Village today wearing knee high Tory Burch suede boots. It’s what, 90 degrees?
Listen sister, the boots are gorgeous but show some will power and hold ‘em out of the rotation until the temp falls below 80 at least. K?
A Park Cities resident tells me that someone is applying dog poop (at least she’s assuming it’s from dog) on political signs in yards of University Park homes. Ewwwww.
I was out of town last Friday when I received the following message commenting on our newspaper’s endorsement of Barack Obama to become the next president of the United States. It was sent anonymously, so it won’t appear in the print product. Sorry for the delay in sharing:
For the last several years, many of my friends have told me they’ve stopped reading that “rag” called the Park Cities People since Wick Allison took over. I’ve continued my subscription because I like to read about what’s going on in the community. But your editorial today endorsing Obama has caused me to agree with others that your paper no longer is worthy of my money. Like many, you have fallen under the Obama spell & have been swayed by smooth talking language of a socialist, disguised as a statesman. (more…)
When you’re having lunch (specifically at Mi Cocina) and you spot an entire table of ladies in almost identical tennis gear … and then you turn your gaze slightly to the left and spot a separate table of ladies in matching tennis gear.
I was going to write about the Tutankhamun and the Golden Age of the Pharaohs since it opens tomorrow at the DMA, but Sarah Eveans beat me to it. A part of me says, “Just link to her post, ” and the another part of me says, “Be a reporter and write your own dang story.”
My lazy self won, so read what she wrote. However, I will say that the exhibit is worth a visit, even without Tut being there. The jewelry is beautiful and the coffinettes (that hold vital organs) are elaborate. It’s hard to believe all this was created in the 1300s B.C. Plus, the dark ambiance and maze-like exhibit gives the feeling of being in a secret burial chamber — or the Haunted House at Disneyland.
Well, if I were in Congress, the addition of tax breaks for renewable energy investments, the raise of FDIC deposit insurance from $100,000 to $250,000, and the adjustment of the earned income tax credit might be enough to earn my vote for the bailout plan. Still, though, the whole thing stinks, and I remain skeptical.
What does the rest of our Overheardian shadow Congress think?
The Plaza at Preston Center is aiming toward trend-loving fashionistas tonight with the inaugural Plaza Style. I’ll definitely be there, cocktail in hand, checking out the models, entertainment, and auction items with about 400 close friends. RSVP and stop by anytime between 6:30-8:30 p.m. I’ll be the one taking notes.
