From the HPHS guys that brought you this and this, comes a definitely edgier version of Parkie Flakes called Parkie Flakes: The Prequel. It’s nearly impossible to tell what genre these guys had in mind, other than lampooning the life and times of Parkies, but that won’t stop most from chuckling at their newest offering (Editor’s Note: video contains crude language and references to alcohol).
Anyone heard of the M.I.S. “safe home” form? I have two kids there and haven’t heard a thing about it. This parent hadn’t heard of it either:
a mom was giving us the scoop on MIS and she told us at the beginning of school that she was presented with a form to sign stating simply that you (the parent) will not leave MIS kids at your home without your supervision and how she signed it thinking it was a generic good idea at the time. Evidently parents who sign these forms are identified as “safe” homes or something. Well, of course she found herself in a situation last week where she couldn’t leave home to do something fairly important because she had signed that darn paper and had 2 MIS kids doing homework. Apparently only a small percentage of parents sign up for “safe” homes.
The Georgia Bulldogs will be wearing their black jerseys for only the third time on Saturday when they take on Alabama in a battle of top 10 teams.
Former Highland Park quarterback Matthew Stafford helped lead Georgia (4-0) to a 27-10 victory at Arizona State over the weekend. On the season, Stafford has thrown for 919 yards with five touchdowns and no interceptions.
The Bulldogs have convincingly won both games in which they have worn black jerseys — against Auburn and Hawaii last season.
Saturday morning at M.I.S. the parking lots were full and all available street parking was loaded to the max for YMCA football games. But this lucky duck found two spots right together.
I can’t think of a better way to start the week than with this comment from a Dallas school bus driver who was transporting area students to a track meet. He has his own blog. The parents of these Highland Park girls should be proud.
I know it’s easy to stereotype a Highland Park kid with all the money and a privileged upbringing…but I was blown away when one of them got on the bus this morning and said, “Thank you for taking the time to drive our bus today.” When we arrived in McKinney and the girls were stepping off the bus, nearly every one thanked me…what an amazing show of kindness.
