Scots Jump to No. 3 in State Poll

Following last week’s 42-14 win over Frisco Liberty, Highland Park jumped up two spots from No. 5 to No. 3 in the Associated Press’ Class 4A state football poll.

Austin Lake Travis, which beat HP in the state championship game last season, remained at No. 1. Everman, which the Scots beat in last year’s state semis, jumped up to No. 2 from No. 3.

Rounding out the top ten are: No. 4 Abilene Cooper, No. 5 Aledo, No. 6 Port Lavaca Calhoun, No. 7 Wichita Falls Rider, No. 8 Longview, No. 9 Texas City and No. 10 Texarkana Texas High.

Change in School Uniforms

Although parents are probably not supposed to know, it seems that there may be a change occurring in the highly-regimented clothing style of our school-age boys. Just last year, and for several years previously, the outfit de rigueur was baggy, slick nylon running shorts (or what were once called “gym shorts”) a loose tee shirt, and Crocs. Suddenly, our boys have gone preppy, with khaki shorts (preferably shorts with big , low-hanging pockets) neat, collared polo shirts, and tennis shoes. (more…)
