The Highland Park volleyball team has arguably played one of the toughest schedules in the state so far in the young volleyball season. And the Lady Scots certainly won’t get a break this weekend.
In its first six matches of the season, HP (3-4) has taken on four state-ranked teams, including two that were in last year’s Class 5A state tournament. Although they played all of the ranked teams close, the Lady Scots lost to Lake Highlands (No. 1 in 5A), Austin Westlake (No. 3 in 5A), Plano West (No. 8 in 5A) and Red Oak (No. 4 in 4A).
HP, which is ranked No. 6 in the Texas Girls Coaches Association’s state 4A poll, will face at least one more ranked team in the Justin Northwest Tournament today and Saturday. The Lady Scots play Hereford (No. 3 in 4A) in pool play at 3:15 p.m. Canyon Randall, the state’s top-ranked 4A team, is also in the tourney.
