I’m back! And for all of you who are wondering: It was a successful wedding. I’d deem it the best Plan B Wedding a bride could ask for, since all my original plans failed and Plan B was always the option that worked. But my most interesting wedding story happened three days before the wedding. Thus my note to the girl who (stole) accidentally took home my wedding dress: (more…)
This story from Aug. 8 discussed the request for signs, which Highland Park apparently did give the OK to shortly after.
An Overheardain wants to know:
How does a private entity like the Highland Park Village get detour signs permanently mounted in the public right-of-way? I’m referring to the professionally-made signs at the intersections of the Tollway and Mockingbird/Beverly. It’s a good idea, but I bet Highland Park is VERY particular about things like this which makes me curious: did the Town pass some special legislation for the duration of the construction?
I can see having a bench or a couple of Martha’s Vineyardesque chairs in the front yard if you have a view of a lake, even a creek, mountain, or a beach. But I don’t get the new craze of Parkie front yard seating facing the street.
For those ready to whip out their hate-mailinator guns, hold your weapons. I didn’t say it was wrong or bad, I just don’t understand it. Perhaps we should consult the girls at D Home.
True freshman Bo Levi Mitchell and Braden Smith have been tapped as the Nos. 1 and 2 quarterbacks on the Hilltop, head coach June Jones announced today. The two will continue to compete for the starting job as the Mustangs’ Aug. 29 season opener at Rice quickly approaches.
“After going through all of the tapes, I felt like Bo and Braden had a better understanding of the offense,” Jones said in a release. “I think they’re executing a little bit better, so we’re going to give them the reps. We will continue to give the other guys reps too, but those guys will get the focus.”
The preseason accolades just keep on piling up for the University of Georgia and Highland Park ex Matthew Stafford.
The Associated Press recently tabbed the Bulldogs as the preseason No. 1 team in the nation. This guy doesn’t think Georgia can win it all, especially in light of the season-ending injury to left tackle Trinton Sturdivant. That loss will be tough to overcome, but perhaps even tougher for Georgia will be trying to live up to all of the preseason hype.
Overheardians love Phineas and Ferb. Who knew? I thought I was alone. Readers have e-mailed their fav episodes and are comparing Danville to the Park Cities. The really shocking part is how many Parkies claim to live next door to Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz. Really?
