Re: Sign Up Now for Leadership University Park

I am working on my application and thought I’d run my answers past Overheardians. What do you think:

Why are you interested in attending Leadership University Park?

I know very little about the way the departments and organizations within the city and community operate. I love University Park and am eager to know much more about the behind the scenes dealings that make our city great.

What, if any, city/community, department/organizations/programs would you like to learn more about or become involved with?

I am interested in learning about the various areas I can best use my strengths to serve the community.

I want to really make a good impression on my app so that I get in, any feedback?

Then add… I want to find out every little dirty detail of the workings of UP and print them with NAMES. You’re a sho-in, they are going to love you. Luck!!!

    Captcha: drizzle content…………….sweet!

Gmom, I kind of like my answer better. But thanks for the feedback.

You might offer to sign a non disclosure agreement.

I do hope you make it in and eventually feed us bloggers with your new insights. Your answers are positive and upbeat. You might include that you’re a working mom with school-age kids. I don’t know if that would be novel or not. But it’s just in case they might want someone with that perspective.

Hard as it is for me to leave out the quips and clever remarks, I’ll give a business-like response. As a two-time board member of Leadership Dallas Alumni Association, I can tell you that members of the media rarely apply to leadership programs and I think you would make a great addition to the mix. They generally balance out the class with businesspeople, nonprofits and volunteers, city residents. The relationships you make will last thru the years (like sorority days) and for example, this month in my job at Whole Foods Market’s Community Relations I called a former Leadership classmate who is the director of the Boys & Girls Clubs throughout Dallas - we made almost $2,000 for them, because I had a contact who could get a Lemonade Stand project done quickly. I say go for it, and even offer your editor as a reference!
