It’s Pole Dancin’ Time

You may have missed the long prelude to the greatness that is Charles Geilich pole dancing. Fear not, you didn’t miss more than a few questionable photos and rather funny comments.

But if you miss the video of Charles learning to pole dance at The Girls Room, your sense of humor may never forgive you

Warning: What you are about to witness may just remind you of every awkward/hilarious situation you ever experienced during middle school, high school, and college combined. Click here if you dare.

Sign Up Now for Leadership University Park

On the back of the little newsletter you get in your water bill there’s a form you can send in to take a course preparing you for good ole boy leadership roles with the City of University Park.

Graduates of the program join an influential alumni base with continuing opportunities for networking, exposure and service.

Column. Material. Jason, this is my formal request for the $125 tuition fee. If you’ll pay I’ll start drafting my answer to this application question:

Why are you interested in attending Leadership University Park? (Additional comments can be attached if needed).

Matthew Stafford, Coverboy

Former Highland Park quarterback Matthew Stafford is on one of five regional covers for Sports Illustrtated’s College Football Preview, which is on newsstands this week.

Stafford is pictured with Georgia teammtes Knowshon Moreno and Dannell Ellerbe. The magazine tabbed the Bulldogs as the No. 1 team in the nation to open the season.

The other four covers, which also feature a trio of teammates, are of the other four schools in SI’s top five — Ohio State, Florida, USC and Missouri.

Re: Now Everyone Can Know I’m Single

Great idea but I think the real money would be in making jewelry that advertises, in a super classy way, your PTA position or your child’s greatest accomplishment. You know, a ring that says PTA VP or TAG. I think I’m really on to something here.

Scots Hit Practice Field

With the season opener against Red Oak a mere 19 days away, the Highland Park Scots opened football practice Monday morning at Highlander Stadium.

Head coach Randy Allen was pleased with what he saw from the roughly 145 players who reported for practice.

“I thought they reported in good condition and they seemed to retain a lot from the spring,” Allen said. “We put everything on them and they remembered it.”

The Scots will practice without shoulder pads until Friday. Allen said they will have an intrasquad scrimmage at 9:30 a.m. Saturday. HP, which went 15-1 last season, will also scrimmage at Plano West on Aug. 22. The Scots will then try to become the first team in Texas high school football history to win 700 games when they face the Hawks in the Tom Landry Classic on Aug. 30 at SMU.

Now Everyone Can Know I’m Single

Remember the T-shirts with statements across the chest, such as “I’m Hot,” “Team Jolie,” and “Daddy’s Girl”? Well, there’s a new trend that is attempting to grab the attention of the stylish, and that is the statement ring.

Dian Malouf is creating “Unhitched” and “Hitched” rings for the single and married guys and gals. Employees believe these rings will “be THE status symbol for fall.”

Not really sure if I want to walk around with “Unhitched” on my finger. What do you think?
