What’s Wrong With Mustang Donuts?

A reader says we should be on the case:

OK…we’re all wondering…what’s the deal with Mustang Donuts now? Donuts are different. Staff has changed. Weekend lines are missing. Is there a story here?

Last week, when the big Dunkin’ Donuts news was confirmed, Tierney was commenting that she doesn’t understand how a donut place can stay in business. Does anyone still eat donuts often enough to keep them in business?

I have to think there are enough office break rooms in Dallas to keep really good donut stores prosperous for many years to come.

If the reader is talking about this summer, I suspect that both patrons and employees are all on vacation. There were plenty of lines at the end of the school year.

Don’t under estimate the siren call of these treats. Hang out at Mustangs on any Friday or weekend morning (except summer) and you’ll see why they still are in business!

There’s nothing wrong with Mustang Donuts. They’re the best.

I enjoy the occasional doughnut, but I used to have them 3-4 times per month. In the past few years, I eat them maybe 3 times a year. I noticed that they aren’t even brought into the office anymore. It’s usually bagels. They’re so bad for you that most people have probably eliminated them from their diet.

What, Mustang sucks more than it did? They cannot hold a candle to J’s at Lovers and Greenville. If some of you Parkies would leave the bubble once in a while and try them, then you would see the light. I haven’t eaten at Mustang since 1994 when the whole family had dual exiting, explosive, projectile you-know-what from eating some bad sausage rolls. I know that is not common, but it left bad memories.

I’ve always wondered why most donut shops are just named Donuts.

Has anyone tried the new-ish donut place on Lovers Lane between Douglas and Armstrong? I think it is called Yummy Donuts.

I think Mustang Donuts are the best in the land.

Mustang Donuts are the best. Period. Who’s going over to Greenville to get a donut, seriously.

OMG, Yummy Donuts are horrible! Try them if you must, but be prepared to gag.

Decent donuts can be found west of the Tollway on Lovers by Texas Paint and Wallpaper. Very good donuts available at Skillman and Abrams next to Starbucks.

Donuts may be down, but they’ll never be out.

Jason, I just realized what I don’t like about your title. You are teeing people up only for the bad, “what’s wrong.” I say nothing. I have never met anyone that doesn’t love them.

There is a post on Frontburner today about Mustang Donuts.

I’m more concerned about Balls…Ball’s Hamburgers that is. Who needs holes. We need balls.
