Just called Dunkin’ Donuts and confirmed it will be taking the place of Balls Hamburgers in Snider Plaza. However, a date is not set for its grand opening.
My suggestion is to get out there and eat as many Balls’ sliders as you can.

That’s a crime against humanity, or at least the community. Dunkin’ Donuts are dreadful. Balls burgers are excellent. What ***** decided we needed to replace a family friendly burger joint with crappy “strip mall” coffee and stale baked goods? Is nothing sacred? Next thing you know, Kuby’s will be bought and turned into an Olive Garden.

A quick follow-up to my above post. The “bad” word that was removed by some blog filter and replaced with asterisks was “*****”. Evidently, “crappy” is now considered part of the daily vernacular, LOL!

I’m sad for Balls, but delighted to hear that Dallas will finally be getting a DD. I’ve never much cared for Krispy Kremes. And you don’t know much about DD if you think it’s a ’strip mall’ chain with stale goods. Those of us who have been transplanted (willingly or not) from the land of DD couldn’t be happier. But again, I’m sad to see Balls go by the wayside. It’s likely they had given up their lease long before DD took it up.

This is the worst. Forget for a minute that Mustangs isn’t as good as it used to be but is still miles better than Dunkin D’s. Think about how many post “under the lights” game dinners you spent at Balls, or in my case how many times my mom and her friends insisted we go to Balls where they could get a salad (and a beer) instead of Jack’s. Who knows when I would have eaten a grilled chicken sandwich if not for The Ace. University Park is about family, and Snider Plaza used to be a place where UP kids could walk over, grab a slurpee or a Bobby’s Snow Ball, hit up the card shop, and grab a burger at Balls. No matter how locally owned DD’s is or how great it will be for SMU kids to get large iced coffees at midnight, there’s no way it will ever contribute as much to the community as Balls did. I’m sad for UP. Whoopdidoo…we get a Dunkin.
