PR guru (and I hear Wick’s one time girlfriend) Jeanne Prejean has a theory about the front door of your house reflecting who you are. True or hogwash? I haven’t guessed who owns every door here but I know which one belongs to D CEO’s Glenn Hunter and it so tells everything about him, that his wife is in charge.
The center left door has an arty thing attached to it. Is it a doll? Can we get a clearer photo of the object?
UPDATE: I’m told that the arty thing is dry cleaning. Looked like a doll to me.
Mine is always locked which says that I’m never home.
They say the eyes are the windows to the soul.
Same thing could be said about doors. I have a strong aversion to small doors on houses they really bug me.
bluebird, Surely you can’t mean that. Most of our original cottages/bungalows would look awful with large doors. You cannot ignore scale. I can’t stand the double-wide doors (2 full-size doors side by side) on classic colonial style houses. It’s an ugly trend left over from 1980. Large or double doors are great for contemporary-style homes, but would be a design fiasco on most if not all of traditional style homes.
bluebird. Surely you can’t mean that. As the neighborhood design snob, let me enlighten you. Most of our original bungalows/cottages would look awful with a large door. It’s all about scale and history. For example: double-wide front doors (2 full-size doors side by side) on classical/colonial style homes was a fad starting in the 60s. Looked ugly then and looks like a tear-down now. If these houses had been designed with some architectural integrity, then they wouldn’t be so obsolete now.
Hey! For some reason, I thought my original post didn’t take, so I typed it out again. Sorry about that!!! ARRRGGGGHHHH!
I agree it is all about scale~ should have been more specific I dislike small doors on big houses~ it is a bug when it is not in proportion
Will reveal all on http://www.zillowblog.com/erne.....e/2008/06/
As for that “arty thing”…. it’s called my dry cleaning!!!
