Assault at the University Park Pool?

I checked in with Chief Gary Adams about rumors that the police were called to the UP pool concerning a fight over a chair last Sunday. Here’s what he had to say:

Yes.  A young girl reported to her father that a man had taken her chair and when she asked for it he refused to give it back.  The chair is actually owned by the city and placed at the pool for those using the facility.  The young girl told her father and an altercation followed. The man who took the chair filed an assault report with the University Park Police.  A citation for assault was issued, which was a class C misdemeanor and will end up in municipal court. This occurred on Sunday in front of several people.

SHAME on you men for handling the situation that way. That story is appalling to say the least. Trashy to say the most.

How big of a loser do you have to be to deny a child her chair? LOSER!

Is this the same guy that ran into Merritt and isn’t man enough to take responsibility?

If my kid came to me at the pool and said someone took her chair I wouldn’t approach the guy. And I certainly wouldn’t assault anyone. I think the dad of the girl needs to take a chill pill. Records request for further scoop has been sent.

    Who’s right, who’s wrong?

Come on UP - DO THE RIGHT THING.

What is the right thing? Was the girl sitting in the chair and the man told her to move or was she in the pool and “saving” the chair until she needed it?

Either way - this situation should have never escalated to the point where there was an altercation and the police were called. It’s pathetic.
