A must have for the male Parkie, a Hawaiiabera shirt? I’ve noticed a few of these on men around town so I did some research and discovered they’re making a come back. Even Jack Black has one.
I’m wondering if leisure suits are next. Call me crazy but there’s a certain level of retro sexy to this.
I have been so looking forward to an opportunity to use the “Animals/Husbandry” tag recently supplied by Jason. Now, here’s my chance.
We have suffered nocturnal home invasions recently from what I supposed were raccoons coming through our cat door. Despite repeated inquiries, our cat denied seeing anything, and I suspect that it may be an inside job with her as a co-conspirator.
Night before last, my wife caught the critters on camera. Check out the guilty look on its face.
Defensive steps have been taken.
A People Newspapers staff member shared this experience she had this morning, which obviously touched her:
Now I know many of us are skeptical of homeless people. Especially when they intrude into the lovely Park Cities, but this morning I came across Gaylynn. As I had finished a breakfast meeting and was discussing a few things with my friend in the parking lot of Javalto in Preston Center, a woman approached us and said she didn’t want anything, just looking for direction. She asked if we knew about First Baptist Church and how long it would take for her to walk there. She was trying to get to a shelter that was suggested around there. She had a business card with 1110 Cadiz written on it.
Chris Murzin, whose crusading efforts have been chronicled in our papers several times, was named the 2008 University Park Citizen of the Year today. Here’s the full release from the city:
Chris Murzin (pictured with his family) has been named the City’s 2008 Citizen of the Year. Chris has been at the forefront of local accessibility issues to help better the lives of those who are disabled or physically challenged.
As the parent of a child with special needs, Chris is acutely aware of how difficult it can be for those who are in a wheelchair or who are otherwise physically limited to go from place to place without difficulty. A former board member for United Cerebral Palsy in Houston, Chris and his family moved to University Park in 2006. Since that time he has helped the City to identify and improve the accessibility of curbs and sidewalks in numerous locations. He has also discussed similar accessibility matters with HPISD officials and PTA members.
From our page 2 columnist:
So someone (a Parkie) picking up an across the street neighbor kid backed out of their driveway after I backed out of mine. . My car was already in the lane and I was starting to move forward. He backs into the side of my car and bashes the crap out of the passenger side front and back doors. I got out and said I’d need his ins info and he said, “what? we were both backing out and just ran into each other.”
No, you don’t smash the side of someone’s car with the back of your car and say we’re both at fault.
So I got his ins agent info, wrong number. There was an HPISD sticker on his car. I’ll find him.
Game on, brother.
