Upgraded!

Ooooo, very good point by a public realtions reader concerning this week’s Bulletin From the Bubble.

I’m in the public relations field and I travel a great deal so I appreciate your column this week. However, I wish you would have pointed out that upgrades are made possible by cashing in on frequent flyer miles. You never want the client to wonder why they’re paying for first class seating, especially since they’re not.

Very true.

    Merritt,

I’ve got news for you. Doha and the entire Persian Gulf is a sh+th^le of the earth, even at the Ritz.

A 15 hour flight, even in F class, is a draining experience, a real ballbus*er.

You are normally as on target and game as they come, but on this one you are off kilter.

Well, it’s time alone and doesn’t involve the pool. You know, sometimes just that sounds pretty glam.

I understand your point, and I suspect that the Ritz pool at Doha has plenty of fluffy towels and attendants.

I suspect also that your husband would be very happy to trade it for spending his time with you and your kids at UP pool. At least, that’s how I felt on day 2, 3, and 4 of my business trip this week.

My wife and I often laugh about this dynamic, she feels the same as you when I am away in a nice hotel on business, and I can not wait to return to UP, even with the garage sales, leaf blowers and NIMBYs.

Amen. There’s someone else that gets it. It’s a happy day!
