University Park Rules

That’s according to our corporate brethren downstairs. In the July issue, University Park is again named the best suburb of Dallas.

Highland Park is No. 6, below <gasp> Parker.

Let the debate begin. And I don’t mean the debate about whether UP and HP really qualify as suburbs. They don’t.

As I sit in my renovated 1928 tudor in HP, I read D Magazine and wonder if my feelings should be hurt that UP is ranked #1 and HP is #6. what I realize is that I don’t care. UP is great — lots of McMansions and nice enough people. What I don’t get is the D mag article that says that HP needs to “get a grip on its crime problem.” Huh? I read skulduggery every week and I could swear that I read more about UP skulduggery than HP skulduggery.

Now, Kersten, that’s not nice. HP has its own McMansions and UP has tudors, including renovated ones.

I do think HP was cheated, though. But I suppose D magazine can’t have the same rankings year after year or no one would buy their magazine of annual rankings.

I know, I just have to throw that out there to generate some feedback but you know what I hear out there? Crickets.

Maybe the power is still out in Overheardianville.

I don’t know what crime problem they’re talking about, either. These rankings are like rankings of colleges, doctors, lawyers, etc. Silly, and designed to sell magazines. Which, of course, I hope our sister publication does.

I agree thats why we are called the park cities. hp and up have alot of love for each other. They are both part of the big wonderful bubble. And the police are wonderful!
