That’s according to our corporate brethren downstairs. In the July issue, University Park is again named the best suburb of Dallas.
Highland Park is No. 6, below <gasp> Parker.
Let the debate begin. And I don’t mean the debate about whether UP and HP really qualify as suburbs. They don’t.
Sharon Adams from Socialwhirl.com tells us that The Bachelor producers will be coming to Dallas searching for the next super babe. We don’t have a date or venue yet but get your thinking caps on and nominate by sending an e-mail to nominatethenextbachelor@thebachelor.tv
Oh, we love The Bachelor.
If you’ve got a little anxiety in your life, Successful Learning Strategies can help. I wrote an article about them last year, and really enjoyed getting to meet the owners and see how they do things differently.
To find out how they can help with anxiety, check the jump (I didn’t see anything about how to handle a fear of planning weddings. But if I ever find that, I’m so there).
Highland Park has won its sixth consecutive Lone Star Cup and ninth overall. The award, sponsoredby Texas Dodge Dealers, is based on overall number of championships in athletic and academic competition and is awarded to one team in each classification.
HP finished the school year with 98 points, 18 points better than second-place Friendswood. The Scots won numerous state titles this year, including boys golf and girls swimming.
The first year of the Lone Star Cup was 1997-98. HP won the 4A division each of the first three years.
I want my nanny to be as comfortable as possible but she doesn’t make enough to live in the Park Cities. So does this sound as odd to you as it did to me?
My nanny lives on Westminster.
And yes, this person meant a full time nanny living in the 75205 zip code. House not apartment.
On Monday, the official countdown to football season began with the annual release of Dave Campbell’s Texas Football.
This year’s edition, which checks in at a whopping 368 pages, features quarterback Graham Harrell, receiver Michael Crabtree and head coach Mike Leach of Texas Tech on the cover.
In the high school section, Texas Football predicts that Highland Park will win its district once again this coming season. Rockwall is picked to finish second, followed by Rockwall-Heath, Royse City, Richardson Pearce, Carrollton Newman Smith, Greenville and Carrollton R.L. Turner.
After Georgia’s big season in 2007, expectations and hopes are high for this year. Led by former Highland Park standout quarterback Matthew Stafford, the Bulldogs are hoping to take the next step this year.
Here is a really good article about Stafford and how vital he will be to the success of this year’s team. Georgia opens the season at home against Georgia Southern on Aug. 30.
As an avid concert-goer who actually shows up to see the opening band(s) on a bill, I can tell you that they seem to be getting better and better.
Case in point last night’s opener for Death Cab for Cutie at Nokia. It was a band I had honestly never heard of called Rogue Wave. And, despite having a generic band name that doesn’t exactly tip the scales of creativity, they were fantastic. Really good, solid music.
It turns out Rogue Wave has three CDs out, which surprised me a bit because they haven’t really hit it big. I think it’s only a matter of time before people know about this band.
For me, the show came on the heels of two shows with phenomenal opening act(s). I recently saw Elvis Costello open up for The Police, and Lupe Fiasco, N/E/R/D and Rihanna open for KanYe West.
Keep those sold opening acts coming. BTW, Death Cab was awesome.
Is it hip for two 40-somethings to go to a concert given by another 40-something? I ask because I feel unexpectedly cool to attend tonight’s Aimee Mann concert at the House of Blues.
Of course, by asking, I have answered my own question, in the negative. Still, I’m down with it, dude.
