Park Cities Without Power?

Merritt manages to send in a blog post, despite the difficulties:

The power is out at my house and for blocks around. My nanny reports that Snider Plaza is without power too. If I get home and there’s poor ice formation for evening beverages and Kuby’s is closed …t his could be bad. But remember Michael is fine. He’s at the waterfront Ritz in Doha.

UPDATE: Gary Krabill, who owns Flavors From Afar in Snider Plaza, said the power went out just before noon. It came back on at 12:30 p.m. He thinks it was just his block - the 6700 block.

UPDATE: Hey, Gary, seeing as you have power there at Flavors From Afar, Merritt wants to know if she can sleep in your store. Text her.

    Hey Merritt…Collin County has power!!

Some places on Greenville are without power as well.

OK, you want to talk power outage? I got power back this morning at Chez Moi after a pesky power line blew up at 1 o’clock Monday morning and started a fire behind my garage. (THANK YOU HP Fire Department for saving my house.) We were only powerless for a little more than 24 hours but it is a very good excuse to throw away every unidentifiable and potentially dangerous food item in my Sub Zero.

And Merritt, if the power is still off in your house, you can take the kids to The Mansion for a slumber party. That’s what I did.

Kersten, our power just came back on, but would the Mansion still let us stay there for free?

  • Kersten

    Um. No.

It’s 8:42 and we are still without power in the Milton/Athens/Rankin/Airline block.

Oncor says that we’ll be lucky to get power tonight, hopefully by tomorrow.

They’re focusing on NE Dallas that was especially hard hit.

Scrubs - good luck. I feel for you. A small bit of good news is that the storm dropped the temps to a much more tolerable high 70s. Hang in there . . remember, there’s always The Mansion.

Thanks Kersten. It’s 8:25 a.m. Still no power. Not getting any love from Oncor.

Reading the DMN, you’d never know the storm was that big of a deal. Front page of Metro, only.

Most of the news coverage seemed to be in UP but Oncor tells me NE Dallas was devastated which is why were not getting serviced more quickly.

kersten - it is SO UNFAIR on so many levels that your kids get THE MANSION as a slumber party destination. You oculd be on course for “Hilton” sisters clones…..its way too easy to get addicted to room service, doormen and turn down service!

I am so glad the power line behind my house burst into flames Sunday night instead of yesterday because Oncor is stretched too thin to be effective.

k - Don’t worry, I make them suffer appropriately to compensate.

My daughter is at basketball camp at St, Mark’s this week and that area does appear to have been hit hard by the storm. Lots of downed tree limbs and debris. Didn’t see any Oncor trucks anywhere this morning.
