I know Overheadians worldwide can’t wait to read the Real Estate section in tomorrow’s editions of Park Cities People and Preston Hollow People, and online at www.peoplenewspapers.com so I’ll give you a little tease for what you can expect.
Later this year, both of the Park Cities will require residential sprinkler systems in all new homes. But how do these systems work? Are they effective? How much do they cost? How are builders reacting to the change?
The answers to all of this and more in tomorrow’s Real Estate section, available only in Park Cities People and Preston Hollow People.
I’m building a house in UP so I hope this isn’t cheating.
A fire sprinkler system costs $10,568 for a 7,500 sf house. The requirement doesn’t take effect until this Fall, but I wanted to have it in my house anyway. It’s made of PVC pipe, unlike steel pipe used in commercial construction. Makes you wonder what happens if a fire starts in the attic??
How are builders reacting? I assume they will raise the price on new homes $10,000.
Me glad the guvment here to take care of us since we is a bunch of ****** en don’t know how to take care ourselves.
the city is hosting a seminar on this and other UP construction codes for Home Builders Association later this summer.
