I’ve said from the beginning that I would hold on until the bitter, bitter end. And now the time has come. Charles, where’s my Obama sign? You could save me the pain by just putting it in my yard while I’m at work tomorrow.
This is good news for Erika Nazem. It proves she is in the 9th best place in the world to accomplish her goal of helping those involved with billionaires.
Nazem, you’re way smarter than I gave you cred for. You win.
This Friday evening, Joseph Noble is co-hosting a soiree with Lucy Billingsley at the Crow Collection of Asian Art. The event benefits the Chiapas Project and their efforts to provide microfinancing to the impoverished women living in Chiapas, Mexico. Click here to learn more about the event.
The Chiapas Project must be important to the Crow family as Nathan Crow recently co-hosted a young member committee event with Whitney Muse at the Muse manse on Preston.
As you all know, from time to time it becomes necessary to create a term that captures a situation like no other previously established word. Recently I received an e-mail that made this addition to the Overheardian vocabulary a must.
Ambigumail: An ambiguous e-mail worded so that more than one meaning, often conflicting interpretations, can be received making it necessary to re-read and over analyze the vague and cryptic content.
Recapping some of the modern lingo used on Overheard for new readers: (more…)
I haven’t been to the Chick-Fil-A in Hillcrest Village yet. But I went to the one just north of Southwestern on the 75 access road for lunch today. The double-lane drive through was backed up onto the access road, and there were at least 50 folks eating inside.
What is the deal with Chick-Fil-A’s popularity? It was a good meal — better than I expected. But it’s still fast food. Can someone tell me what the big deal with this chain is? I’m about ready to invest in the company based on what I see at that location every day. It was busy until 1:50 inside, and still had 10 cars in the drive through well after the standard lunch hours.
HPISD sends this update to the post regarding a HPHS student with a 4.0 GPA not accepted to Vanderbilt.
Dear HPISD Parents & Friends,
Last night’s WFAA-Channel 8’s 10 p.m. newscast included the story we’ve been waiting to see about Sam Davison being wait listed at Vanderbilt. In the end, Sam was accepted to Vanderbilt, so congratulations are in order.
This story has been on hold for more than a month, so we were glad to see it air. To watch the story, click here: http://www.wfaa.com/video/index.html?nvid=251163 (There will be an ad before the story, so hang in there!)
Way to go, Sam!
People, aren’t you getting bored with the pet thing? This new blog rep I’m working on is getting old.
Introducing the latest Parkanimal entry, Gigi…
This pet is technically not a Parkie since she lives slightly outside of the 25 and 05 zip codes but since she’s so cute we’ll let it slide.
More Parkie pets. This Overheardian has a positive report on a blended animal family.
Latte (cat) and fiancée’s dog Gracie…so happy together.

Frontburner is discussing security issues at Northpark after 5 men pulled a smash and grab yesterday. The bold crime, committed so soon after the May 16 shooting, raises concerns for many in the area.
Well, it’s not a big enough deal for Vanderbilt and it doesn’t guarantee him a spot at U.T. either. That really stinks.
More response to the call for pet pix. This is Scout the Parkie cat in a shopping bag.
One question: Does it bother you when the cat gets in the bag and leaves cat fur on your brand new stuff? Cute cat, I’m just sayin’.
