We have received word from an Overheardian that all of the crossing guards at Bradfield and Armstrong Elementary schools have been let go. Other words were used for “let go,” but at best they were not “rehired.”
The district, the Overheardian says, claims to be “going in a different direction.” Word is that the guards were not giving any advance warning, nor were the principals at those respective schoos who had to issue the dismissals.
Parents are upset . . . stay tuned.
There was a crossing guard at Mockingbird and Byron who had told us earlier this year he was retiring to spend time with his nephew. He is elderly and it seems sensible that he was retiring. I don’t think he was one of the ones that were “let go”.
Who, what, when, where and why? Not much to go on yet…
Aren’t the guards employed by municipalities rather than school districts? If so, Armstrong and Bradfield are the two HP schools, so maybe HP is changing direction.
Maybe they are starting a new shuttle service
Yes, anon, they’re employed by HP. So yes, it would seem they’re going in a different direction. Does that mean off-duty officers?
We’re looking into it. If anyone has intel on this, please let us know.
Maybe the new approach has something to do with the Bradfield parents complaining that Armstrong kids got favorable treatment in crossing Mockingbird.
“Going in a different direction”–maybe the crossing guards should stay so they go in the right direction?
