Send Me Your Cutest Pet Pix

So here’s what the top 5 blog posts in May tell us about Overheardians, other than Austin Kilgore’s pit bull story didn’t quite do the trick: As indicated by #2 and #3 on the list, Overheardians love gossip and a good train wreck. #4 tells us that we love to see Merritt get beat up in the comments area. And #5 just confuses me…it either means Amanda Tackett is a rock star or it backs up my point about #4, Merritt getting a good beating equals entertainment.

I’m changing my blog rep and just plain starting over by posting stuff about the library and cute little Parkie pets. Send me your pet photos.

A Final Attempt to Get Bikini Ready

What better way to shed those last few pounds for summer than with a light jog at the 18th Annual Susan G. Komen North Texas Race for the Cure.

Scheduled for Saturday, June 7, thousands of runners, trotters, and walkers will participate in either the Co-Ed 5K Run/Fitness Walk or the One Mile Family Fun Run/Walk to support breast cancer. This is the largest fundraiser for the North Texas Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure®.

Registration begins at 6:30 a.m. and the 5k starts at 8 a.m., followed by the one mile run at 8:30 a.m. (which is more to my liking). With an early morning start, you can be sunbathing in comfort by noon.

Kuby’s Has One Fault

plug.JPGMr. Kuby,

Would it kill business to get a few electrical outlets scattered through the dining area in case someone has a laptop on low battery? IJS.

What Did You Say About Bubba’s?

Rumors are flying but can it be true? I heard Bubba’s lost their lease. I say false. Anyone have a scoop on this possible tragedy?

Have The Crossing Guards Been Crossed?

We have received word from an Overheardian that all of the crossing guards at Bradfield and Armstrong Elementary schools have been let go. Other words were used for “let go,” but at best they were not “rehired.”

The district, the Overheardian says, claims to be “going in a different direction.” Word is that the guards were not giving any advance warning, nor were the principals at those respective schoos who had to issue the dismissals.
Parents are upset . . . stay tuned.

Calling All Seamstresses

6149_elderly_seamstress_woman_sewing_a_dress.jpgI am on a search for the perfect seamstress who will alter my wedding dress without charging an arm and a leg, and who will give me at least another month to lose those six extra pounds.

Any debutantes, socialites, or brides have any advice of a great seamstress in the area?

Blog Stats — May

Wow. The numbers speak for themselves this month. We crushed all our previous records:

91,989 pageviews, 29,019 visits, 10,948 unique visitors

Pageviews were up almost 40 percent over April, which had been a record itself.

Seven different days this month nearly eclipsed our previous pageviews-in-a-day record, set by the 7th-Grade Potheads on Feb. 7. One day this month managed the feat. With a whopping 5,010 pageviews, May 21 is our new all-time champ. Continued interest in the NorthPark shooting, Erika Nazem, and the new Chick-fil-A helped to drive traffic that day.

Diehard GOPer Wants to Send Dems to Their Rooms

The fellow who was concerned about the Park Cities going Democratic shares some more thoughts:

It is interesting that we have entered the “hold my breath till I turn blue” phase of the political campaign so early in the year. We have the usual group of Hollywood stars threatening to leave the country and even some yellow dog Democrats threatening to vote Republican. Most people (with sensible parents) grow out of this phase about say - five years old? When I see them on TV or read about them, it makes me want to send them to their room and ground them until the end of November.

Danger on the Golf Course

Imagine the concern a young fella like me had when I came upon this particular hole on the golf course today in that suburb of the PC known as Southern California.  img_0237.JPG
