Re: WFAA Asks People Newspapers to Report For Them

WFAA’s Jeff Brady called me on my cell phone during lunch today wanting to know if I’d give him a phone number for a source from the news I broke yesterday about pit bull owner John Harris’ lawsuit against Ebby Halliday, Realtors and dog attack victim Debbie O’Connor. I’ll relay the conservation for my adoring fans. [Note: these are not exact quotes, but rather a summary of the conversation]

Jeff Brady: Hey It’s Jeff Brady from WFAA.

Me: How did you get my cell phone number?

JB: Well, I’m a reporter, I have my ways. So, yeah we want to copy that story you and Josh Hixson did on the pit bull owners. Do you have a phone number for Debbie O’Connor?

Me: Not that I’m going to give you. Besides, her lawyers told her not to comment in the press, so I doubt she’ll talk to you.

JB: Oh, ok. Well do you know where she lives?

Me: Somewhere in Preston Hollow. Again, I’m not interested in sharing my work with you.

JB: Well, can you put me in touch with her lawyer?

Me: No.

Apparently those crack “reporting ways” can only get you so far. This is now twice in two days that WFAA’s asked us to do their work for them.

You’ll relay the CONSERVATION? Why would WFAA want to hire a reporter who makes such a glaring typo?

You should have said, “If you can get my cell phone number, you should be able to determine where Ms. O’Conner lives”.

    Two points for Unstable!

So you want the owners of bad dogs to be stopped, but you’re not willing to get the story out to the mainstream media where it can be investigated and reported? Sounds counterproductive to me.

But they have you beat with a helicopter to waste an entire 30 minute newscast on a car chase. How Los Angeles!
