It’s official. Parkies have one less reason to cross US-75. The new Chick-fil-A in Hillcrest Village, where Zuzu’s used to be, opened today.
Crack Park Cities reporter Cassie Clark, Lovely Lakewood/Lake Highlands reporter Sarah Scott, and I ventured there for lunch this afternoon, thus anointing it the next “it” place to be.
While there was a long line, it moved very quickly, and employees were on hand throughout the restaurant to assist customers. Shop proprietor Jeff White, who also owns the location on 75 at Southwestern, even personally brought me a refill of Diet Dr Pepper, how’s that for service?
It’s probably the nicest Chick-fil-A I’ve ever dined at. There were flowers at every table, and a small, bound tabletop menu of desserts. Comfy chairs, and a variety of table arrangements, from booths to two-tops and taller tables with bar stools.
There’s also a separate dessert station with a display case of cookies, cheesecake, and smoothies that has its own cash register so you don’t have to wait in line twice.
What a great blog post. - Crack Reporter
You know, I’ve lived in UP virtually all my life, and I’ve never before heard the term “Hillcrest Village.” I guess I haven’t been paying attention. I like it. It’s much better than what I always say (and hear other people say): “No, not Snider Plaza, but, you know, farther south on Hillcrest. Those stores. Down there. Across from SMU. You know. Near Culwell.”
Cassie, you need that on your business cards.
I miss ZuZu’s
Free WiFi?
I agree sedagive. “Hillcrest Village” - no native would know where you were talking about. Down from Blockbuster on Hillcrest would be much better.

Re: Ice Tea –
Head over to the Zuzu up on Beltline west of the tollway. It’s a bit of a drive, but it’s a little nicer than the one that was across from SMU and we’ve yet to suffer food poisoning like we did at the park cities one!
K - Thanks for the post. I do know the Beltline ZuZu and the food there is much better than the food was at Hillcrest.
What I miss is going to get tea everyday. And seeing my fellow ZuZu tea addicts.
I brew my tea at home now.
Ice Tea — Yeah, my buddy and I stock up on tea when we go and then each brew it at home. It’s a shame it’s all the way up in Addison, but it’s definitely worth making the trip every once in awhile. I have a friend who goes at least once a week.
I think there is a ZuZu next to TCBY up Mockingbird near White Rock? It’s a little bit of a drive, but not all the way to Addison! Geez!
Liz, that one is okay too - especially if you’re just going for tea. If you’re going for food, the one in Addison is a better choice if you can afford the gas usage to get there.
K - Savoring my Peach Mango tea as I type.
I get my tea at wholesale. A lot cheaper than buying at the restaurant.
Abrams location is okay and I do like their 99 cent menu for a quick bite.
