Photographer Chris McGathey ran out to the McCulloch Intermediate School track today to capture the scene (see above, Ryan is second from left) at Run for Ryan. The weather had cleared up by then, and Chris said the place was crowded with kids and parents running or walking 20 laps on the track, eating snow cones, and just flat-out having fun. A representative from the National Kidney Foundation of North Texas was also on hand.

In case you did not see this news here, Shinsei is hosting Mrs. McVeigh on June 2nd. Escort your child or children, ages 6-12, for an early evening etiquette lesson. The hook is a complimentary cocktail for mom OR dad (not both). If your child does not learn anything during the session, the cost of the cocktail is $75, but if he or she does, it is probably worth every penny.
This group was adorable. They did a sassy routine to the song “Fabulous” from High School Musical. Â
The former cheerleader mom on the far left did olympic-ish flip flops on the way in. It was damn impressive.
Though this photo came out a bit blurry it represents the spirit of this group, two moms in the midst of a full body slam greeting.
They did a routine to “Get Your Head in the Game.” It was so complex it involved floor dancing and flying basketballs. It was spectacular!
A few thoughts from this morning’s skit:
First, while I wholeheartedly respect the need to protect UP Elementary’s campus, and allowing access to the school building via one door is obviously a necessity, but it would be great if there was a sign pointing to the direction of the office where you have to go to sign in, it would be very helpful.
Well, as promised, a couple staffers from the paper attended Merritt’s skit. With three minutes before the start of the production, Austin and I ran to the car and headed to the UP Auditorium.

Does anyone else get tired of the euphemism “working-class voters?” Is it so un-PC (that’s “politically correct,” not Park Cites, in this instance) for the news media to just say what they mean by this term: non-college-graduate, lower-wage earners?
An Overheardian shares a terrifying tale of more animal antics in the Park Cities (photo dramatization added):
This morning a big hawk came swooping out of the sky and tried SEVERAL TIMES to get my chihuahua. The hawk came after me when I managed to scoop my dog up and run for the back door. Max was outside for a very few minutes and thank goodness I (more…)
Merritt’s preparing to rap and dance her heart out.
I’m dressed like my daughter with a wig and pig tails! You wouldn’t believe.
It’s kind of hard to make out the sprinklers in this photo because of the rain pouring down around them, but, trust me, they’re on. So, let’s be a bit more specific than I was in my original post. The house at the southwest corner of Hillcrest and Marquette has run the sprinklers over the sidewalk and street every single day since at least the beginning of March, when I first noticed.
And it’s for sale, listed by Virginia Cook agent, Jeanmarie Geis. So maybe the owners aren’t in there, I don’t know. Jeanmarie, can you do something about this?
