Sincere Apologies to the Good Folks of Deloache Avenue

The Preston Hollow half of our special Bush story contains a serious error. It pictures and identifes a home on Deloache Avenue as the former home of President George W. Bush and his family.

Trouble, the Bushes actually lived in a home on Northwood Road. The story has been corrected in the online version.

Lady, I Need to Make a Right Turn

This has to be one of the most frustrating things about the Park Cities. People just block the road and visit the day away. I was planning to turn right, the only legal move out of the parking lot, but this lady had some catching up to do. (more…)

Mockingbird’s Dangers to Children

A reader sent in the following response to this week’s story about a new lot that Highland Park leaders hope will make Mockingbird safer for kids:

As you are aware, Bradfield Elementary sits directly on Mockingbird Lane and has too very busy crosswalks, one at the 5 way intersection of Douglas, Mockingbird and the Highland Park Village and the other at the very complicated intersection of Armstrong. Mockingbird Lane and Mockingbird Parkway. Many of the Bradfield kids live north of Mockingbird and must cross this active intersection twice a day. I am a Highland Park resident and have crossed this street almost daily with my child for the past 4 years.

Where Should the Bushes Live?

The rumors abound about where President George W. Bush and his wife Laura will settle after they leave the White House next year. Laura said last month they’re headed back to Dallas, but where exactly?

People Newspapers undertook a special project to allow each of the neighborhoods we serve to make the case for why a former president might want to call their area home. You can read the debate between the Park Cities and Preston Hollow here.

Other neighborhoods making the case are Lake Highlands, Lakewood, Oak Cliff, and West Plano.

Arbor Fan

By the way, I just wanted to send some well-deserved kudos to “The Arbor,” UP’s city newsletter that comes with the monthly water bill.  This is a well-designed, informative entry in a field not really known for such things.  It actually makes getting the water bill somewhat pleasant.

I Love my Job

cimg0378.JPGSo we all know that my living quarters aren’t the best. But that’s why I love what I do - I get to live vicariously through you.

Here’s a photo I grabbed while scouting some homes this week. This is in someone’s backyard! I thought about asking the family to adopt me so I could play all day, but I refrained.

However, to see some professional pics and get the story behind this, you’ll have to wait until our June issue of Homes and Estates. But get excited. And Jason, if you can’t find me later, it’s probably because I ran away and am playing in the tree house.

TAKS Reduction

Do you think it’s true that our schools start the summer vacation immediately after TAKS testing, basically blowing off the last month of classes?  Or are the kids exaggerating?

This Parkie is So Rich He’ll Take You to the Marriott

Rich Bigdollars, what can I say? You’re a tricky guy.

You may be asking yourself at this point, why is this rich man posting on a message board when he can have any woman he wants at any time he wants her, just by showing her how much money he has in his shoe? The answer is that I want to date someone who doesn’t know that I am rich. I want to be anonymous. Only when we have fallen in love will I reveal to you that I am rich. That is why we must meet through this message board.
