Sweeping Change?

If a petition from 14 UP citizens along Northwest Parkway can result in the spending of a ton of money by the city on a wall, and the attendant traffic mess and questionable aesthetic result we will face, I wonder how many signatures it would take for the city to outlaw leaf blowers?

As opposed to a project that would only benefit a few (and hey, more power to the 14 who got it done), the banishment of leaf blowers would be a boon to anyone with ears, a nose, and any concern for the environment.

Does anyone want to get a petition together to put the 2 parks at Lovers/Hillcrest back the way they were a year ago? And if we do that can we get our tax dollars back that was spent on the airport fountain and the overdone landscaping?

A ban on leaf blowers is the kind of thing you would expect from a tyrannical homeowners association in a cheesy Plano subdivision, not in University Park. I can see limiting the use of motorized lawn equipment to certain hours (say, 8 am to 8 pm) but banning them? Please. I’ve lived in UP and HP my whole life and the nanny-state tendencies of some of my neighbors has always annoyed me. My guess is that I’m part of a large silent majority. I hope Park Cities People isn’t foolish enough to adopt the leaf-blower ban as an editorial position. [Insert "blow-back" joke here]

I’ll sign it, They blow all the leaves around (mostly into other yards) and then bag them in PLASTIC. How environmental is that??? LOOSE THE BLOWERS

Lose the blowers and then pay triple (or more) the cost for the yard crews to rake? Not gonna happen in this lifetime.
